I began my writing career in 1999 with a column in the magazine Practical Horseman. While traveling around the country with our youngest child and her pony, I felt compelled to explicate this unusual world for myself and other parents. In addition to the bi-monthly column, The Horse Show Mom, I also contributed to other equestrian magazines. In 2004, The Lyons Press asked me to write a book about my experiences.
The Horse Show Mom's Survival Guide was published in 2005. It was well received, selling over 5,000 copies the first year. I loved the time spent with horses and other parents, but since 2006 I have been focusing on writing fiction.
I finished my Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Fairfield University in 2012,
and have a Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa.
I have recently completed a novel in stories about a healer and am working on a second novel about Alzheimer's.
